Walter F. Benenati was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Although his grandparents were of Sicilian descent who emigrated to South America, his parents were immigrants from Argentina and Peru who came to the United States to make a better life for themselves. After excelling in school, Mr. Benenati graduated magna cum laude from Florida International University’s esteemed Honors College after receiving the coveted USA Today’s All-Florida Academic Team Full-Tuition Scholarship.
He went on to attend St. Thomas University School of Law on a scholarship for academic achievement and the school awarded him the Most Outstanding Student in the fields of Contract Law, Advanced Legal Research, and Writing. During this time, he endured the tragic deaths of his mother and father during law school who succumbed to cancer and a heart attack, respectively. He persevered during this difficult time and continued on. Mr. Benenati says this challenging time defined him and made him realize his parent's dream of him becoming an attorney was his dream as well and he was determined to accomplish this goal.
Mr. Benenati earned his juris doctorate in 2006 and passed the Florida Bar Exam on his first attempt. Having to put himself through law school by working full-time and relying on credit cards, Mr. Benenati filed bankruptcy four years ago to give himself a fresh start. Realizing what a powerful tool the US Bankruptcy code provides consumers, he decided to dedicate his practice to helping Central Florida residents obtain debt relief and he has been filing Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies for his clients ever since.
Mr. Benenati is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), The Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association (CFBLA), and The National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA).
